Credit card practices deemed ‘unsafe’: Consumer Reports Money & Shopping Blog

Chase’s recent decision to remove its $10 monthly fee on customers who were slow in paying down their balances and refund the $4.4 million in charges to date removed one of the uglier credit card fees out there. But there’s still plenty left. Recently, Capital One raised its APR on 15 of its cards from an average of 12.45 percent to 17.24 percent. Citi, Discover and Bank of America are upping fees for overseas purchases, and Citi’s rewards program has upped the number of points needed to redeem for plane tickets.
